THE SPARK OF WONDER.
THE POWER OF STRUCTURED LITERACY.
A COMMUNITY OF CARING ADULTS.
Children become scientists, investigating words as they explore the world around them.
Educators build expertise in literacy and teaching foundations.
Families nurture children’s development with less stress and more joy.
Our Words in the Wild community is revolutionizing reading, especially for neurodiverse learners working with dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning differences.

We are [still] committed to teaching that is grounded in research, strengths-based, child-centered, and anti-racist.
My how we’ve grown…
In 2013 we started with a two-week camp, a handful of parent/teacher workshops, and big ideas about revolutionizing reading.
Today, our community brings those big ideas to life every day, creating opportunities for children, families, and teachers to experience the magic that happens when the spark of wonder is applied to the power of structured literacy.
The heart of our community is our Teaching Fellowship, supported by the Words in the Wild Foundation.

Our innovative approach teaches students to investigate words by leveraging curiosity while exploring the wonders of the natural world. (And teaches teachers how to do that!)
